Writing and Photography: The Viking and the Ladies
I love to write. It is one of my favorite things to do. It allows me to completely express my thoughts and gives my imagination space to roam, dream, and create. I have found that photography has also given me a similar outlet. This photo sparked the beginning of a story in my mind. I am not yet sure how it will end, or even where this Viking and the Ladies behind him will go on their adventure, but I do know that they will most definitely go on one.
The story may start with a “Once Upon a Time” or it could simply start with, “There once was a viking who was the protector of three sisters. He was made of wood, but cared not because he had a brave and fierce heart that beat in the hollow of his chest..”
The possibilities of the story are endless and sends thoughts flying through my mind and that is what I love. When I write I find that my stories take on a life of their own and I am no longer in control but simply documenting life: an observer of tales. I only have to write it down and listen to what they are trying to tell me. Writing, like photography, many a time surprises you. You think that you know what the photo or story will come to be and yet somehow you are still surprised by the end result and it turns out better than you could have imagined.
I always encourage people to photograph and to write. Nobody sees the world as you do nor has your own individual, and unique perspective on life.
